Brian has over 40 years’ experience working in theatre and a similarly extensive background in sound reproduction for concerts, television broadcasts, arts festivals and other environments, where music, sound and drama combine to entertain, move and tell stories. He has worked on ‘traditional-style’ musicals, including Sunset Boulevard, Cats, The Phantom of the Opera and Guys and Dolls. He was a resident sound designer for the English Shakespeare Company and also at the prestigious Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg. Brian has worked all over Europe, the Far East and the Americas on a range of productions, all with very differing dramatic and musical styles. These include: Shakespeare productions at the Tokyo Globe in Japan; dub and reggae performances at the Hackney Empire; Britten’s Noye’s Fludde in Singapore; Die Dreigroschenoper in Salzburg, Austria; Schiller’s Maria Stuart in Hamburg; Henry V and Richard III in Chicago and Melbourne; and yet more Shakespeare in Leipzig, Dresden and Berlin in East Germany before the reunification. He has been involved with Mamma Mia! since its first performance in London and with the subsequent productions that have been staged internationally.
